Join Barry Cockcroft as he hosts a live podcast interviewing featuring guest saxophonists from the Melbourne International Saxophone Festival - The Barry Sax Show. In this show, he explores the stories behind these great musicians with telling insights into how they got started and the ongoing development of their careers. Discover the highlights of touring the musical world, unconventional ways to learn the saxophone, teaching styles from different countries and tips on maintaining a long and healthy career.
BARRY COCKCROFT
Barry’s compositions have received thousands of performances throughout the world and are played regularly in more than 40 countries. He has been concerto soloist with the United States Navy Band and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and is a Selmer Artist and a D’addario International Artist (Reserve Reeds). He is a member of the International Saxophone Committee, supporting the triennial World Saxophone Congress.
Barry has given masterclasses at the Paris Conservatoire (France), George Mason University (USA), Trinity Laban Conservatoire (UK) and universities across Australia. He has adjudicated for The Adolphe Sax International Competition (Belgium), the Gisborne International Music Competition (New Zealand) and the and the finals of Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards (Australia). Barry studied in Australia with Dr. Peter Clinch for 5 years and for 2 years in Bordeaux France with saxophonists Jacques Net, Marie-Bernadette Charrier and Jean-Marie Londeix.
An enthusiastic traveller Barry has visited around 70 countries and is the host of the saxophone podcast series The Barry Sax Show.
